My apologies Rob

After the scrimmage, I assumed you would be checking marquettehoops non-stop which is why I did not post anything until now. My impressions:

Being an early scrimmage it was sloppy at times, but there were still some great moments. James had a nice ally oop in the beginning of the scrimmage.

Mbakwe was bigger than I expected. He does not look like a freshmen and should serve as a great threat off the bench. He has some pretty sweet up's, so between him and Hazel I see no room for D-Burke Da Star. Hazel impressed me too with his dunking abilities.

We should be very deep at the 1 position this year. Acker hit some nice 3's and had some good penetration, although his height will certainly be an issue over the course of the season. hopefully he makes up in speed for what he lacks in height. Cubillan seemed to be very sharp just coming from playing in his home country of Venezuela. James also looked good hitting some deep shots.

All in all I was impressed with the performances for the night. This team is going to be so deep I can't decide on the starting 5 quite yet. Here is my prediction:
James
McNeal
Matthews
Fitz/ Hayward
Barro

I truly beleive Mbakwe will add some great talent to the table as well. What does everyone else think. I also predict we will be losing James, McNeal, and Matthews to the NBA after this season once we reach the final four.

So Mbwake doesn't have a shot at starting?

How was Christopherson size-wize?

I guess Fitz had a quiet night, but he's more of a gametime, crunch time player, not early season scrimmage guy.

How bout Blackledge? Is he worth having on the team?

From what I saw, and again this was just a scrimmage I would not rule out Mbwake as a starter. Of course in the beginning of the season he probably will not, but he seems develped enough physically to be a force down under. I would love if he became a starter.

As for Blackledge, I really see no purpose on the team for him other than a sweet dunk. I cannot imagine he will have much p.t. this year even if he can manage to pass his classes.

Christopherson did not seem 6'3" which I think is what he is listed as. He might be 2 inches taller than James. As for build he has more meat on him than Diener did his freshmen year, but aside from Acker and Blackledge will be the smallest guy on the court. James might be short, but he is jacked.

Rob,

I apologize for the lack of video. Brian had a fairly good discription of the scrimmage. There not a lot of excitment. Fairly basic, drills and scrimmage. Christopherson didn't play much in the scrimmage, Mbwake and Hazel showed freshman jitters. A little off balence and out of place at times, nothing major though. James didn't seem to loose an ounce of confidence on the court. He seemed more buddy-buddy with crean though, at times high-fiving and sharing cheers. However, I did see a glimpse of his lack of concentration and decision making. With 3 on the shot clock, he drives the lane, and with one left, he trys to dish it to Oose on the wing (WTF), but it was diflected. To short of a time period to notice if this will be reoccuring.
